Project Overview

Australian Owner Manager (AOM) provides education specifically targeted to medium to large business owners and their senior managers.

The first Australian Owner Manager Program was born out of the Executive Education department of the UQ Business School and held in 2013.

The program was privatised in 2017 and it moved from under the prestige of the UQ Business School banner and the key goal became building a trustworthy and aspirational brand and reputation among a sceptical demographic of business owner managers.

Scope

The scope of this project included fully rebranding the business, user research, information architecture, content, prototyping, and visual design.

The Australian Owner Manager Website

Before the project the Australian Owner Manager website fell under the umbrella of the University of Queensland Business School. The university logo at the top of the page gave the program prestige and respectability. The website used a very basic single page format with minimal information.

Design Inspiration

Designed by GDJ Advertising in Melbourne, this poster was a marked departure from AOM's previous branding and was the inspiration for the website redesign.

The blueprint symbolised the program giving participants a 'plan' to build their own businesses and emphasis was placed on persuasive statistics about the program, alumni and results.

User Research

User research was conducted to test the above design with past and potential program participants. The blueprint design tested well, however, almost all prospective participants reported wanting to hear more from alumni. They wanted to read more alumni stories and before investing in the program many potential participants requested contact details of past participants so they could speak to them personally.
